Indoor residential floors carry a 10-year warranty, and quotes are free and written. Call (519) 778-1412.

Basement Floors That Work Year-Round

A basement is an indoor project, so winter weather outside does not change the plan. Whether it is a laundry room, a workshop, a gym or a fully finished rec room, a coated concrete floor is durable, easy to clean and ready for furniture, equipment or rugs.

The key to a lasting basement floor is the slab itself. Basement concrete often has a history of moisture, so every project starts with an on-site moisture test, and the coating system is chosen from the result rather than guessed.

What does a 600 sq ft basement cost?

At the ranges above, a 600 sq ft basement works out to roughly $3,000 to $5,400 for solid epoxy or $3,600 to $6,000 for a flake finish, before any crack repair or moisture treatment. These are planning estimates; you get a fixed written quote after the moisture test.

How We Prepare a Basement Slab

  • • Moisture test on-site (calcium chloride or relative humidity probe) before any coating
  • • Check for cracks, efflorescence (white mineral staining) and old sealers
  • • Diamond grinding to open the concrete
  • • Crack repair and patching
  • • System chosen from the moisture result, then base, colour and top coat

Good to Know

  • • Standard epoxy needs a slab at about 10°C (50°F) or warmer, which most heated basements easily meet
  • • Active moisture or efflorescence should be addressed before coating, not covered over
  • • A basic sealer slows moisture slightly but is not a substitute for a moisture-rated system
  • • Residential indoor floors carry our 10-year warranty (details)

Basement Floor Coating FAQs

Can epoxy be applied to a basement concrete floor?

Yes, once the slab has been tested and prepared. We run a moisture test on-site before every basement project and choose the coating system from the result rather than guessing.

What if my basement slab has no vapour barrier?

It can still be coated, but it needs the right product. Moisture-tolerant systems such as our polyurethane cement are formulated for slabs without a vapour barrier, where standard epoxy is more likely to fail.

Can a basement floor be coated in winter?

Yes. A basement is an indoor space, so the weather outside does not change the plan. We check slab temperature as part of every install, and standard epoxy needs a slab at about 10°C (50°F) or warmer, which most heated basements meet.

What should I do about white powder or staining on my basement floor?

That is efflorescence, a sign that moisture is moving through the slab. Do not coat over it yet. It needs a moisture test and a moisture-tolerant system so the new coating does not fail too.

Is a basement floor coating warrantied?

Indoor residential floors carry our 10-year warranty. The full terms are on our warranty page.

How much does a basement floor coating cost?

Typical installed pricing is about $5 to $9 per square foot for epoxy systems, plus any crack or slab repair. A moisture-tolerant system is priced after the on-site moisture test, and you receive a fixed written quote.

How much does it cost to coat a 600 sq ft basement floor?

A 600 sq ft basement typically costs roughly $3,000 to $5,400 for solid epoxy or $3,600 to $6,000 for a flake finish, before any crack repair or moisture treatment. Metallic finishes cost more. You get a fixed written quote after the on-site moisture test.
